Joe Biden dropping out of the US presidential race
International leaders gathered to honor Joe Biden following his announcement on Sunday that he would be withdrawing from the US presidential contest.
Biden made the shocking choice to inform the public through a letter, upending the 2024 presidential contest. He supported Kamala Harris, the vice president, as the Democratic Party’s new nominee.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the leader of Ukraine, commended US President Joe Biden for his “tough but strong decision” to withdraw his reelection campaign and thanked him for his “bold steps” in defending his nation.
“He helped us stop (Russian President Vladimir) Putin from occupying our country, supported our country during the most dramatic moment in history, and has continued to support us throughout this terrible war,” the speaker stated.
Donald Tusk, the prime minister of Poland, commended Biden for making “many difficult decisions that have made democracy stronger and made America, Poland, and the world safer.”
“I am aware that when you made your final choice announcement, you were motivated by similar reasons. The most challenging one of your life, I’m sure,” continued Tusk, the 2014–2019 president of the European Council.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed admiration for Biden’s choice.
Starmer stated, “I know that he will have made his decision based on what he believes is best for the American people, as he has done throughout his remarkable career.”
Olaf Scholz, the chancellor of Germany, also gave praise to “my friend.”
He declared, “Joe Biden has accomplished a great deal for his nation, Europe, and the world.” “We should respect his decision to not run for office again.”

Biden was hailed by Israel’s Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for his “unwavering support of Israel over the years.”

The prime minister of Japan acknowledged that Biden’s announcement is “the best political decision he feels he can make.”

“For your leadership and ongoing service,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese expressed gratitude to Biden.

Biden had “dedicated his life to public service, and that is something that deserves much respect,” according to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon of New Zealand.
“To be at ease with your conscience because you took the sensible and correct decision,” said Nicolas Maduro, the president of Venezuela, to Biden.
“At that age, he realized he couldn’t take the reins of his country, much less a presidential candidacy,” stated Maduro, who is getting ready for this month’s presidential elections.

The Kremlin declared that it was keeping an eye on events.
