Fani-Kayode urges communication and cautions against widespread protests.
Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has strongly warned against a planned statewide protest under the hashtag
#Endbadgovernanceprotest, calling it a calculated attempt to destabilize the nation amid rising tensions and economic difficulties.
A lawful, legitimate protest and a nonviolent demonstration are perfectly acceptable. Fani-Kayode said, “What is intolerable is a planned attempt by a group of anonymous people who work for subversive elements to destabilize the nation and incite people to violence and carnage.”
He voiced worry that the demonstration, which is being referred to as a “nationwide strike,” is a planned attempt to incite the security forces to rebel against the government and endanger the country’s democracy.
“Those who are behind it are trying to exploit the nation’s undeniably severe economic problems to incite panic, fear, chaos, and widespread unrest in an effort to spark mayhem, anarchy, and armed rebellion,”
Fani-Kayode went on. “No responsible government will stand by and let this continue; it is intolerable.”
Fani-Kayode advised the organizers to reevaluate their strategies and refrain from inciting an unfavorable response from the security forces.
He issued a warning about the possibility of sparking another round of protests similar to the #EndSARS ones, which were characterized by extensive violence, divisiveness, and serious property destruction.
He declared, “We cannot afford the violence, strife, division, property damage, and bloodshed that accompany a nationwide #EndSARS-like round of protests, nor do we want or need one.”
In order to go forward, Fani-Kayode advocated for the authorized, restrained, reasonable, and genuine expression of collective concerns.
She also asked for patience and communication with the federal government.
He said, “Anything beyond that will be risky and counterproductive.”
