She made the observation that although their tuition was appreciated, many disliked having them there.
It was stated that skilled Nigerians and those seeking education were fleeing the country for Europe and other wealthy nations in quest of better opportunities—a phenomenon that is now widely referred to as the “Japa Syndrome” in Nigeria.
Nonetheless, Phillipson gave his word that the current administration would treat overseas students differently and more kindly.
She also emphasized that foreign students are valued for their contributions to UK universities, communities, and the nation as a whole, and that they are welcome in the country.
