Agribusiness company and veterinarians team up to empower youngsters with a N20 million grant
ABUJA—In the face of severe economic hardship, veterinarians working with Farm Alert Limited and the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association, NVMA, are empowering younger Nigerians through the Vetpreneurship Program, awarding them a N20 million grant.
During the grant ceremony in Abuja, Dr. Moses Arokoyo, President of the NVMA, spoke about the grant and explained that the Association’s partnership with Farm Alert Limited is primarily to empower young Nigerians through her Vetpreneurship Program.
The Vetpreneurship Programme, according to Arokoyo, aims to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the veterinary field in order to improve food security, empower the younger generation, and lower the unemployment rate, which is projected to be 4.2% in 2023 and the poverty rate, which is estimated to have reached 38.9% in 2023, meaning that an estimated 133 million Nigerians are multidimensionally poor.
Arokoyo also expressed gratitude to Dr. Femi Kayode, CEO of Farm Alert, for her cooperation on the initiative.
He gave the recipients his congratulations and praise for their application pitches, which demonstrated their commitment, passion, and dedication to animal health.
As a result, he (Arokoyo) informed the candidates that they would receive thorough training and mentorship from seasoned veterinary specialists and that the selection process was fair, selecting only the most worthy individuals from a pool of exceptional veterinarians.
It is anticipated that the financial assistance offered by this program would take care of the veterinary industry’s pressing demands, such as the construction of infrastructure and the acquisition of necessary supplies.
This program is a component of the Nigerian Veterinary Medical Association’s larger initiatives to fight unemployment, foster economic growth in the country, and provide career possibilities for the burgeoning younger population.
The Veterinary Association is offering N20 million in goods and cash to encourage young veterinarians nationwide to start their own businesses.
