FG declares public holiday to mark Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) birthday.

The Federal Government has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to honor the celebration of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, made the announcement on behalf of the Federal Government on Friday, according to a statement from Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary at the ministry.

He congratulated the Muslim Ummah, both at home and in the Diaspora, on this occasion. Dr. Tunji-Ojo advised the Muslim Ummah, and by extension, Nigerians, to cultivate the spirit of patience, sacrifice, and resilience.

While thanking the Muslim Ummah on the occasion, the Minister encouraged people to use the opportunity to pray for long-term peace and a more affluent egalitarian society.
