African Development Bank (AfDB) 2025 Internship Program – Session 1 for Young Africans | Monthly Stipend

Applications are now open for the first session of the 2025 African Development Bank (AfDB) Internship Program, offering a unique learning opportunity for young Africans.

Since its founding in 1964, AfDB has been at the forefront of promoting economic and social development across Africa. With 81 member countries, including 54 in Africa, the Bank’s Internship Program is a key part of its Talent Management Framework, supporting its Ten-Year Strategy and High 5 priorities.

Program Goals:

The internship program aims to:

1. Provide hands-on experience in a professional environment at AfDB.
2. Build a pool of potential talent for future recruitment, though immediate employment after the internship is not guaranteed.

Fields of Study

Interns will be selected based on AfDB’s core Job Families, which include fields such as:

• Agriculture, Engineering, Economics
• Investment, Finance, and Risk Management
• Human Capital, Governance, and Sustainability
• IT, Statistics, Data, and Knowledge Management
• Communications, Legal, Translation, and Corporate Governance

Preference is given to students working on projects that align closely with AfDB’s mission.

Program Start Date

Session 1 begins in January 2025.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, candidates must:

1. Be at least the age of majority in their home country, not exceeding 30 years old at the program start.
2. Be enrolled in a recognized master’s program (or within one year post-graduation).
3. Hold citizenship from an AfDB member country.
4. Submit a letter confirming their enrollment or a recent degree.
5. Be fluent in either English or French, with familiarity in standard software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and knowledge of SAP as a plus.

Terms of the Internship

1. Duration: 3 to 6 months (internships are only available once per candidate).
2. Location: Remote or on-site, based on the unit’s requirements. Remote interns need a computer, reliable internet, and a suitable workspace.
3. Travel: On-site interns are responsible for their travel and living costs. The Bank will assist with visa arrangements as needed.
4. Benefits: Monthly stipend and medical insurance coverage.
