Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme 2025/2026 for Latin American Professors & Researchers
The Coimbra Group Scholarship Programme is now accepting applications for the 2025/2026 academic year. This initiative, first launched in 2004, is designed to support young professors and researchers from Latin American universities by offering short-term research opportunities in Europe. The application deadline is March 31, 2025.
About the Programme
This scholarship provides Latin American scholars the chance to conduct research at prestigious European universities that are part of the Coimbra Group. The visit duration typically ranges from one to three months. The main objective is to help scholars advance their research projects while fostering academic collaborations between Latin America and Europe.
Funding and Support
The scholarships are fully funded by Coimbra Group member universities that participate in this initiative. While the financial support comes from the universities, the Coimbra Group Office manages the application process and administration.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a citizen and current resident of a Latin American country. Candidates living or studying in Europe are not eligible.
- Hold a university degree or equivalent qualification.
- Be actively affiliated with a recognized Latin American university as a professor or researcher.
- Born on or after January 1, 1985.
Selection Process
The final selection of candidates will be based on the following factors:
- Academic qualifications and achievements
- Teaching and research experience
- Evaluation of the applicant’s CV
- Relevance of the proposed research project to the candidate’s academic background
- Potential impact of the research visit on the scholar’s career and the participating institutions
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted in English. However, applicants can submit their applications in Spanish when applying to the Universities of Granada, Salamanca, and Barcelona, and in Portuguese when applying to the University of Coimbra. No other language exceptions will be accepted.
