2025 Pernod Ricard One Young World Scholarship for International Young Leaders
Moments of connection, celebration, and togetherness are essential for fostering a sense of community and belonging.
However, ensuring these gatherings remain safe, inclusive, and free from harmful behaviors is a challenge that requires global attention. Pernod Ricard is deeply committed to transforming
social experiences into meaningful, responsible, and inclusive interactions, whether alcohol is involved or not.
While social events bring people closer, they can also exclude those experiencing isolation, create environments where anti-social behavior threatens safety, and, when alcohol consumption is
excessive, lead to significant health and social issues. According to the World Health Organization, harmful alcohol use contributes to 3 million deaths annually, accounting for 5.3% of all global fatalities. Additionally, reports
indicate that up to one in four young adults worldwide experience social isolation, emphasizing the urgent need to rethink how we foster social connections.
Pernod Ricard has long championed moderation through initiatives like Drink More Water, which encourages young adults to stay hydrated, pace their drinking, and create lasting, positive
memories. However, ensuring responsible and inclusive socialization requires a collective effort, particularly from the hospitality industry, which
plays a critical role in shaping how people gather and interact.
The Bar World of Tomorrow initiative by Pernod Ricard aims to empower hospitality professionals—bartenders, restaurant managers, and bar ownersby providing training and advocacy
resources to promote moderation and sustainability. Through education and engagement, industry leaders are encouraged to foster a culture of responsibility, offer non-alcoholic
alternatives, and create spaces where everyone feels welcome, regardless of their drinking preferences.
