A student from UNILORIN died in a campus crash, while others were hurt.
At the University of Ilorin, tragedy struck when a student was killed in a deadly car crash at the main gate, involving a few unidentified students and a shuttle driver.
Information on the tragedy surfaced on Thursday, indicating that it was a single incident involving riders on the campus shuttle.
Our correspondent was able to grab a 23-second video showing the white minibus (Korope) involved in the collision upside down, with a female passenger laying on the floor, bleeding.
Additionally, a few Good Samaritans were attempting to free the imprisoned youngsters inside the car.
Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Kwara Police Command spokesperson, confirmed the event and said that one student had died and that other students,
including the drivers, were being treated at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.
Ejire-Adeyemi stated, “It appears the bus driver lost control and the vehicle somersaulted while on the motion as he was transporting pupils out of the school premises,
right at the departure lane close to the school gate.
Sadly, one student passed away, and the other passengers suffered various injuries; however, they are currently receiving medical attention at the university hospital.
Additionally, the shuttle driver is receiving medical care.
The victims are at the hospital receiving medical attention, according to a post made on X.com by the UNILORIN Students Union @UiLStudentUnion.

the president of the UNILORIN Students’ Union, but they did not return calls at the time this report was filed.
