According to the China Civil Engineering development Company (CCECC), 10,000 employment were generated during the $823 million Abuja Rail Mass Transit project’s development phase.

Along with other government representatives, President Bola Tinubu and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike reopened the commercial operations of the Abuja Light Rail in May.

The Chinese government’s overseas engineering branch, CCECC, stated that it was thrilled to contribute to easing the suffering of the local population in the project’s referenced area.

It was mentioned that the finished 45-kilometer Lot A1 and Lot 3 light rail, which has a top speed of 100 km/h, connects the Aka Line of the National Railway, the Abuja airport, and other locations with 12 stations.

“This metro rail will significantly reduce local traffic congestion while providing residents with an interesting, cozy, and effective journey. In addition, the CCECC reported that it trained over 3,000

professionals for the community and generated close to 10,000 jobs throughout the construction period.

Initiative for the Belt and Road

He also disclosed that N21.4 billion was spent on building the access roads.

The Abuja Metro Line features 12 trains with a capacity of at least 700 passengers per, according to Chinedu Elechi, the FCT Mandate Secretary for Transportation. These trains make 14 trips a day.

He continued by saying that Lot 1 and Lot 2 of the metro line would run two trips daily at the same time, with a total capacity of 980,000 people per month within the Federal Capital Territory.
