Apply for the UNESCO World Heritage Scholarship 2025
Applications are now open for the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage Scholarship 2025! This unique program invites cultural visionaries—artists, researchers, and creators—to bring their innovative ideas to life. If you’re inspired by the UNESCO World Heritage list and want to create cultural or artistic connections between the iconic Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland in Sweden and other World Heritage sites, this scholarship is your chance to shine.
About the Scholarship
Since its inception in 2018, the World Heritage Scholarship has celebrated creative expression and cultural exchange. Supported by the Regional Assembly in Gävleborg, this residency program aims to foster global connections through artistic and cultural endeavors.
For instance, the 2024 scholarship recipient, Berlin-based artist Paul Wiersbinski, showcased the potential of this opportunity through his project, The Perfect House. He ingeniously linked the rural charm of the Decorated Farmhouses of Hälsingland with the urban dynamism of Berlin’s Modernism Housing Estates, crafting a captivating artistic film. This project explored the concept of the “perfect house,” blending historical memory with aesthetic innovation.
What You’ll Receive
As a scholarship recipient, you will enjoy:
- A one-month residency at one or two World Heritage farms in Hälsingland.
- A grant of 50,000 SEK to support your project.
- Travel coverage to and from Sweden and access to a car during your stay.
This once-in-a-lifetime experience not only provides financial support but also offers the ideal environment to transform your ideas into impactful creations.
