The prestigious UN FAO–Hungarian Government Scholarship Programme is now accepting applications for the 2025–2026 academic year. This program offers a unique opportunity for eligible candidates to pursue advanced studies in Hungary, fully funded by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Hungarian Government.

Available Master’s Degree Programs

The following programs are conducted in English at renowned Hungarian universities:

  1. Master in Aquaculture
    • Institution: Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, Szent István Campus, Gödöllő.
  2. Master in Animal Husbandry Engineering
    • Institution: University of Debrecen, Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, Debrecen.

Scholarship Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Coverage of application and tuition fees, including basic course materials.
  • Dormitory accommodation throughout the study period.
  • A monthly stipend to cover subsistence costs.
  • Health insurance for the duration of the program.

Courses will only commence if the minimum number of students is met.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a citizen and resident of an eligible country.
  • Demonstrate academic excellence.
  • Show proficiency in English (for English-taught courses).
  • Exhibit strong motivation for the program.
  • Be in good health.
  • Preference is given to candidates under the age of 30.

Afghanistan, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Chad, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Georgia, Ghana, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, North Macedonia, Madagascar, Mali, Myanmar, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nigeria, North Korea, Palestine, Philippines, Republic of Cabo Verde, Serbia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen.

Selection Process

The selection procedure consists of two stages:

  1. Pre-Screening by FAO:
    • FAO evaluates applications and forwards complete dossiers to the Hungarian Ministry of Agriculture, which submits them to the chosen universities.
    • Only fully completed applications will be processed. Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  2. University Selection:
    • Shortlisted candidates may need to pass a written or oral English examination.
    • Universities independently finalize selections and notify successful candidates via the Ministry of Agriculture.
