Army General killed by gunmen who invaded Abuja Estate

The police have reported that during an armed attack on the Sunshine Homes estate in Abuja, Nigeria, retired brigadier general Uwem Udokwere was killed.

According to Josephine Adeh, a spokesman for the Abuja police, the attack happened on Saturday at around three in the morning.

“After an armed robbery at Sunshine Homes Estate resulted in the untimely death of one Brigadier General Uwem Harold Udokwere (rtd.) on

June 22, 2024, at around three in the morning, Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Benneth Igweh, has directed an immediate,

discreet, and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.

Superintendent of Police Ms. Adeh remarked, “Expressing profound condolences to the bereaved family, CP Benneth Igweh assures the

family and the public of swift justice, with every effort in conduit to ensure the perpetrators of the atrocious act are apprehended and brought to justice.”

according to reports, Sunshine Estate is located in the city center of Abuja in the Lokogoma neighborhood.

Senior government officials and members of the middle class make up the majority of its residents.

The most recent event heightens worries about the level of insecurity in the capital of Nigeria, where kidnappings have occurred in a number of communities.

The death of Uwem Harold Udokwere, a retired brigadier general in the Nigerian Army, has drawn the attention of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.

Udokwere passed away as a result of gunmen breaking into his home in Sunshine Homes Estate, Abuja, to carry out a robbery operation.

This was said in a statement that FCT Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO) Josephine Adeh released to media late on June 22.
