Flash Floods Will Occur in 17 Other Nigerian States, Including Abuja, Ogun, and Kogi, Beginning in July

The Federal Government of Nigeria has issued a warning that river flooding will start by the end of July as states there start to register flash floods.
It said that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and 19 states would probably be badly hit.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Professor Joseph Utsev, the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, stated that since May,
the nation has been dealing with flash floods and urban flooding brought on by prolonged periods of intense rainfall, as well as inadequate and clogged drainage systems in metropolitan areas.
However, he pointed out that there’s a chance the nation would have river flooding starting at the end of July, which is predicted to be far more destructive.
Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Benue, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Edo, Jigawa, Kogi, Kebbi, Kaduna, Niger, Nasarawa, Ogun, Rivers, Taraba, and FCT are a some of the
states that are on the list of states that could experience flooding.
The Minister claims that Nigeria is situated in the lowest part of the River Niger Basin, meaning that flooding incidents will occur if the upper catchment of the Basin floods.
Regarding the Lagdo Dam situation in Cameroon, the Minister stated that the operators had notified the nation that they were
filling the dam to generate hydropower, and that the flow conditions at Wuroboki were comparatively normal.
He said there was nothing to be concerned about.
Previous reports indicated that there was major flooding in several parts of the nation, which resulted in the loss of homes and businesses.
