Governor Inuwa Lends his Voice For State Police

Bauchi state Governor and Chairman of the Northern states Governor’s Forum, Mohamed Inuwa Yahaya has backed up the push for the establishment of the State Police in Nigeria.

Governor Inuwa made this known in an interview with State House Correspondents, after his meeting with Vice President Kashim

Shettima at the Presidential Villa yesterday in Abuja, where he vehemently supported the call for state Police.

According to him, he said believe the people of Gombe State are also behind the idea of having state police because this will

being security closer to the people and will enable them monitor their own security more than someone else.

He further affirmed that the proposed legislation for state police would pass through the National Assembly easily and also gain two-thirds approval from state assemblies across Nigeria as required.

Governor Inuwa  also added states are already managing security through their own security outfits and supporting federal agencies,

adding that with state police, governors would have direct command and total control over security operations within their respective states.

The governor added that he has full conviction in the creation of state police, he is sure many other states in Nigeria would also support the move.
