In Edo, Ondo, we’re prepared for combat — PDP
The All Progressives Congress (APC) is expected to face significant challenges in the upcoming Edo and Ondo state gubernatorial elections, according to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This was said by Umar Damagum, the acting national chairman of the party, on Thursday in Abuja during the opening of the PDP National Campaign Councils for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo.
According to Damagum, the way the candidates performed in the two states suggested that the party will win the elections.
He reaffirmed the party’s belief in its ability to win the elections in Edo and Ondo and declared that it would not permit itself to be denied victory in any of the states.
Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, according to Damagum, has already set the stage for the party’s victory in the state poll.
“We refuse to take a seat and let anyone search, seize, or take anything. Any robber who rears his head to take our fortune will find us prepared for war.
“In Edo State, we’ve done so well. We express our gratitude to the governor. We are quite pleased with him. Our track record in that state says it all.
“I want to tell those who think they will take Edo that we live in a democratic dispensation, so it is going to be very difficult for them,” he stated.
Damagum declared that Ondo was already set up for the PDP to win and counseled the state’s citizens to view the upcoming election as a further chance to make changes that would benefit them.
“I am aware that we missed that state due to our haughtiness. However, I’m sure that the majority of you Ondo residents have observed the actual scenario.
“You’ve changed in commitment and resolve. You have a recently nominated candidate who possesses an abundance of wisdom. If I may say so, God had a hand in his emergence,” he remarked.
Damagum gave the two campaign councils the assignment to rise to the occasion, tackle the difficult task ahead, and contribute to the party’s success.
“You must dazzle your eyes and open them. We are prepared for their pranks, but they will bring all kinds of tricks this time. We’ll equal them, the man declared.
Damagum promised that the party will provide them with the necessary resources to complete their tasks in the two states.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa is the head of the 148-member Edo council, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN). The deputy chairs of the council are Governors Sherrif Oborevwori of Delta and Kefas Agbu of Taraba.
Additionally, Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun chairs the 177-member Ondo Campaign Council, with deputy chairs being Dauda Lawal of Zamfara and Caleb Muftwang of Plateau.
Gov. Fintiri assured PDP that the campaign council members were committed to their duty while speaking on their behalf.
He claimed that in both states, the PDP had better prospects.
“We’re prepared for Edo.” Nothing will be left up to chance. We’ll take use of Obaseki’s abilities.
In the two states, there are easy political opportunities for us. We ought to proceed seriously.
“PDP has good prospects in both states. Since new registration began, Edo has enrolled more than 2,000 people, according to Fintiri.
After Obaseki’s performance, PDP chieftain in Edo, Chief Tom Ikimi, also voiced confidence that PDP will win Edo.
Obaseki had distinguished himself as one of the nation’s top governors, according to Ikimi.
“He is the first governor who has the audacity to come forward and offer every worker a basic salary of N70,000,” he declared.
Ikimi continued, saying that Asue Ighodalo, the PDP candidate in Edo, has the ability to change the state.
Dr. Eddy Olafeso, the former National Chairman of the PDP for the South-West, expressed his conviction that the story from Ondo would be one of triumph and achievement.
Olafeso declared that Agboola Ajayi, the PDP candidate for the state, had the support of all party officials and interested parties.
He stated that the complete backing of the party’s leaders and elective members was currently all that was required.
