Keir Starmer is congratulated by Rishi Sunak after Labour wins the UK general election.

Keir Starmer will take over as prime minister of the United Kingdom after Labour secured a resounding win in the 2018 election.

In addition, Rishi Sunak claims he called Starmer to congratulate him after conceding defeat.

The loss of Conservative seats


The most well-known Conservative defeats to date were those of Penny Mordaunt, Jacob Rees-Mogg, and Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, who fell short against Labour.

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, wins Clacton and becomes an MP for the first time. Richard Tice and Lee Anderson of the party also prevailed.

Islington North was won by former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn as an independent, while Labour’s Jon Ashworth was defeated by an independent.

The Workers Party’s George Galloway lost the seat he had previously won this year.
