Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall is a perfect match for Chelsea
When Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall arrives at Stamford Bridge in search of trophies, he feels Chelsea are the ideal team for him.
The 25-year-old comes from Leicester City, where he was chosen to the 2023–24 Championship team of the season thanks to his efforts under our new head coach, Enzo Maresca.
The Foxes were promoted back to the Premier League right away at the first attempt, led by Maresca and featuring a strong midfield presence in Dewsbury-Hall.
Dewsbury-Hall continued, saying: “It was a good season for me last year, and I’m feeling like a new player this season, full of confidence and motivation to get going.
I don’t see a better fit than coming to Chelsea and playing with and against some of the best players in the world.”
“I am excited to get going and I am in a great space right now.”
Prior to December 2021, Dewsbury-Hall had productive loan stints at Blackpool and Luton Town. Since then, he has been a constant in Leicester’s starting lineup.
In addition to his 59 Premier League matches, he has made 179 senior appearances and played for Leicester in Europe.
But what kind of player is Dewsbury-Hall, for those who may not have watched him play?
He answered, “I’m a box-to-box midfielder.” “I enjoy attacking, driving at defenders, and creating opportunities through goals and assists.”
I am someone who can generally contribute to every area of the game, and I will also give the team my all defensively.
Although Dewsbury-Hall’s skill has long been apparent, under our new head coach Maresca last season, the Nottingham-born
midfielder achieved new heights, tallying 12 goals and dishing out 14 assists in 44 Championship games.
“I think scoring more goals has been down to a combination of everything,” the speaker continued. I discussed with Enzo Maresca the idea of
expanding my game’s aims and came up with strategies for doing so, which I was able to implement. Reaching double digits felt good.
“As an attacking player looking to contribute in the last third of the pitch, that is something I will try to do again this year.”
Maresca joined Leicester in June of last year, having served as assistant coach for Manchester City during their treble-winning season.
With a total of 97 points in his rookie campaign, the 44-year-old led the Foxes to the Championship title while displaying his very own playing style.
“I have made it pretty public about what I think of the new head coach,” Dewsbury-Hall stated. He is outstanding. He is the best.
During the previous season, he fundamentally altered Leicester’s style of play, and it was successful. I think a lot of the other boys felt the same way I did about the way he wanted to play.
“I came here with a great deal of confidence that he would apply his style and that the boys would embrace and enjoy it.”
