Lagos State translates laws into Yoruba with AI

Jubril Gawat, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, made this statement on his X account on Tuesday.
The three-day event’s topic, according to the announcement, was “Unlocking AI Powered Translation: Enhancing Access to Lagos State Laws in indigenous languages.”
The session, according to Gawat, was held “with a view to boosting public order and safety, operational efficiency, and improved accessibility and scalability of Lagos State Laws.”
The Yoruba language is a common thread among the diverse population of Lagos State, with many inhabitants speaking it fluently.
The Lagos State Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation hosted a stakeholder engagement forum on the proposed innovation bill in June.
The law is expected to stimulate creativity and create a climate that will support the state’s technical progress.
At a June event, Olatubosun Alake, the Commissioner for Innovation, Science, and Technology, stated, “It is imperative to create a strong policy framework that promotes ongoing innovation investment and propels Lagos to the forefront of the digital revolution.”
This is because it has the potential to either promote or inhibit ongoing governmental investment in innovation. This involvement is consistent with advancing a framework for innovation policy.
