A new project implementation plan that addresses out-of-school children and is in line with President Bola Tinubu’s priorities for
education was revealed by Prof. Tanko Yusuf Sununu, Minister of State for Education.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the National Examination Council (NECO) state headquarters in Lafia, this news was made.
According to Prof. Sununu, President Tinubu has given the Federal Ministry of Education permission to carry out the DOTS initiative, which aims to raise the standard and expand access to education.
Specifics of the DOTS Initiative: D: Information Store: To establish a trustworthy and accurate data bank, this entails first conducting a data census.
Planning, resource allocation, and tracking the advancement of education in Nigeria will all be aided by this data.
Students from both government-owned and private kindergartens, primary, secondary, and postsecondary institutions will be included in the census.
O – Out-of-School Children: Taking care of the nation’s 20 million or so out-of-school children, a dire condition.
The Tinubu administration’s eight-point plan, which emphasizes social welfare and education, includes this problem.
Professor Sununu stressed how crucial it is for these kids to go back to school in order to guard against future abuse and criminal activity.
T: Teachers’ Welfare: This covers rehabilitating the teaching profession’s dignity and enhancing teacher capacity. It seeks to reinstate teaching to its previous splendor and certify educators with the required credentials.
S – skills: Stressing the importance of having skills that are applicable to today’s demands and emphasizing knowledge, moral principles, and practical abilities.
The minister emphasized the value of giving young people the right skills and mentioned the considerable influence Nigerian physicians have on the American healthcare system.
Governor Abdullahi Sule reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to offering the people of the state high-quality education
through the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Muhammad Sani Bala.
The Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, stated that there is an urgent need for infrastructural improvements at all of NECO’s locations.
Along with the new office in Lafia, he declared that new state offices in Abia, Jigawa, Rivers, Sokoto, and Taraba would improve the way exams were administered in Nigeria.
