President Tinubu Leaves Lagos for South Africa
President Bola Tinubu left Lagos on Tuesday for Pretoria to attend South African President Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration.
At around 11:06 a.m., the Nigerian leader departed in a Dassault Falcon 8X aircraft from the Presidential wing of the Muritala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja.
After the event, the president will depart for Nigeria. Accompanying him were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, and other government officials.
Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman, had stated in a statement that Tinubu would be present for Ramaphosa’s inauguration after he was re-elected to a second term in office.
After his humbled ANC pulled together a historic coalition government, Ramaphosa was re-elected to a second term in office.
After the May 29 general election had no clear winner, lawmakers in Cape Town overwhelmingly agreed to extend Ramaphosa’s term in power by five more years.
After three decades of control by the late Nelson Mandela’s African National Congress ANC, the election represented a momentous turning point for South Africa.
But the ANC made an agreement to form a government that it refers to as a government of national unity.
