President Tinubu speaks to protesters, says he has heard their voices.
President Bola Tinubu has called for discourse and an immediate stop to the nationwide protests that began on Thursday.
Tinubu, who stated that his administration is willing to listen to and address protesters’ issues, confirmed that he has heard their voices “loud and clear.”
“I hereby enjoin protesters and the organizers to suspend any further protest and create room for dialogue, which I have always acceded to at the slightest opportunity,” he affirmed in a nationwide broadcast on Sunday morning on the #EndBadGovernance protests.
The country needs all citizens, regardless of age, party, tribe, religion, or other divides, to work together to reshape its common destiny.
The 10-day planned protest, which began on Thursday, primarily against rising costs of living and hunger, deteriorated into violence, destruction of property, and loss of life in many parts of the nation.
At least 17 people were reported dead during the “days of rage” protests.
The protesters who had earlier called on Tinubu to address the nation and bring lasting solution to their demands, said they are not going back on the protest until their demands are met.
Some of the demands of the people include: fuel pump price at 100 naira per liter, end to bad governance, slashing of legislature’s salary, free education from primary to secondary school, amongst others.
However, after 3days of the nation wide protest, President Tinubu has addressed the nation.
