The state government said in a release sent to Sokoto State Governor Abubakar Bawa through the Press Secretary that MURIC
ought to have inquired as to whether the state administration had ever sent the Sultan any questions, warnings, or threatening documents.
The state government was perplexed as to how a responsible organization like MURIC, which purported to be defending Muslim rights,
could go so low and cheap as to collaborate with delusional troublemakers and opponents of advancement to fabricate such a
baseless and unsupported narrative in order to sow discord and fear among the state’s law-abiding and tranquil populace.
“We think that MURIC is not the kind that would be moving to the melodies of adversaries and troublemakers who wish to divert the
good people of Sokoto State and Nigerians’ attention from the revolutionary projects that have been going on in Sokoto State for the past year.
“We would also like to reassure MURIC that the Sultanate Council is respected and valued by both the current and previous administrations in the state, even before MURIC was founded.”
All Sokoto State residents, according to Bawa, “still hold the institution in very high regards and esteem” because of the Sultanate Council’s longstanding historical significance.
“There have been other tales like this one that have been made up to suggest that there is a problem between the Sultanate Council and the state administration.
A few months ago, there was an offensive story of the same nature that the state government completely repudiated and denounced.
“It appears that those evil critics and diversionary opponents of development have not given up on their fruitless attempts to discredit the friendly ties that exist between the Sultanate Council and the state government.”
“We would also like to remind MURIC that the second item on Ahmed Aliyu’s nine-point Smart Agenda is promoting Islamic affairs. As a result,
Islam holds great significance for the current administration, especially considering that Sokoto, the Seat of the Caliphate, is a predominantly Muslim society.”
“No administration in Sokoto State history has done to Islam what the present administration has done in just one year,” claims Bawa. We express this without worrying about being contradicted.
Therefore, it is not only unfair but unjustified for anyone to believe that the current administration could take any actions that could endanger the advancement of Islam.
“To correct the record, we would like to inform the world that the Sultanate Council, led by our most esteemed monarch,
Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration have enjoyed a very cordial relationship.”
The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) had already threatened to use radical revolution against Ahmed Aliyu, the governor of Sokoto State,
if he removed Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Sultan of Sokoto. This information was first revealed by SaharaReporters.

Governor Aliyu’s alleged removal of fifteen traditional rulers from the state.
