The caretaker committee chairs of Rivers,
In Rivers State, the 23 recently appointed Caretaker Committee Chairmen (CTC) have not yet taken office.
On Wednesday morning, they underwent screening by four members of the House of Assembly before being sworn in by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The Nation, however, notes that police operators are still occupying the Secretariats and that they have not yet taken control of the various Council Areas.
When The Nation left Obio-Akpor council on Wednesday at around 11 a.m., the gates remained locked,
and more than 40 police personnel and trucks were stationed to provide surveillance.Additionally,
some members of the public were seen lingering around the Council location, maybe anticipating that the newly appointed Chairmen would
take office soon after. We are anticipating Comrade Chijioke Ihunwo, our new LGA chairman, one of them said our correspondent.
We assumed he would arrive from Government House to assume command of the Council. We arrived to greet him,
but it appears that he will not be arriving anytime soon. I must thus return home and wait for him to arrive.
