PDP Governors: Tinubu Has Failed in Governance, Worsened the Economy, and Impoverished Nigerians
State governors chosen on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform yesterday harshly criticized President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, claiming he has not only failed to provide effective government but has also damaged Nigeria’s economy and impoverished the populace.
The governors pledged to take back all positions of authority in Nigeria, including the presidency, in order to prevent the nation from devolving further into chaos.
Additionally, they charged that the entire 16 years of development under the PDP-led government had been successfully destroyed by the “lacklustre All-Progressives Congress (APC) led federal government.”
stated the viewpoint of the governors during a gathering of state chief executives and the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) leadership at the Enugu State Government House in Enugu.
“Actions at the national level have shown that we are drifting toward anarchy, and we cannot allow this,” Mohammed declared in his speech.
“We have a common history and an ambition to ensure that Nigeria positions itself favorably in the community of nations, where we lead as usual,” he continued.
According to the governor, PDP was ready to restore the good old days of low inflation, reasonably priced food, fuel, and transportation, a high standard of living, and a time when the national currency had real worth.
According to him, the conference gave the governors a chance to exchange ideas about how to advance the party and offer Nigerians hoping for positive change a respectable substitute.
“This meeting is very special and auspicious because we are here to showcase our history as a party,” Mohammed said.
As a party, we have been in the lead in this nation. Before the APC administration started, all of the structures were in place.
In addition, the PDP governors forewarned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to assure fair and impartial off-season governorship elections in Edo and Ondo states by establishing equal playing fields.
They declared that anything less than full adherence to the electoral act’s requirements would not be accepted.
Following the meeting, the PDP governors pledged to thwart any attempts to disrupt the voting process in the states of Edo and Ondo, as stated in a communiqué read aloud by Mohammed.
They urged Tinubu to demonstrate leadership by refraining from meddling in the election process.
The governors stated that they agreed with organized labor’s demand for a significant raise in the minimum wage.
However, they filed a lawsuit to demand restraint in words and deeds that might undermine the rule of law and destabilize the economy.
In addition to applauding the Supreme Court’s decision on local governments’ financial autonomy, the governors said they would keep supporting any initiative that would guarantee that,
in accordance with the constitution, governance is brought closer to the people.
Mohammed praised party governors for their creative approaches to state governance, particularly in the areas of infrastructure, health, and education, as well as for completing projects on schedule across the nation.
Speaking about PDP leadership, the governors declared, “The congresses leading to the election of party leaders, at the various tiers, must be all-inclusive, transparent, fair, and in strict compliance with the party constitution.
This is in the spirit of the founding fathers of our great party, who adopted internal democracy as the fundamental principle on which our party was built.”

The forum warned “all the parties to the elections to ensure that campaigns are issues-based, violence-free, and in strict compliance with the provisions of the electoral act” with regard to the off-season elections in the states of Edo and Ondo.
The forum is of the opinion that the local government system is effective in bringing governance closer to the people, as stipulated in the constitution, according to the statement.
“Will continue to support the autonomy of the local governments as enshrined in the Federal Republic of Nigeria Constitution,” the PDP governors stated in the statement.
“Forum is dedicated to following court orders and has the utmost respect for the Supreme Court. The forum, however,
insists that the court ruling be put into effect in a way that maintains system integrity and does not erode confidence between the federal government and subnational governments.
“The forum notes the crisis in the Rivers State chapter of the party and commits to ensuring peace,” the declaration said in reference to the Rivers State conflict.
The forum has decided to support Rivers State Governor Sir Sim Fubara while also utilizing broader stakeholder consultations in an effort to find a peaceful conclusion and, ultimately, a long-term solution to the situation.
The gathering expressed gratitude to the host governor, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, for organizing the PDP governors’ first meeting away from Abuja in recent memory and for keeping the party together throughout the South-east geopolitical zone.
