Tinubu Receives Warning to Sack Non-performing Ministers
President Bola Tinubu has been urged by the civil society organization, Stay Alert Human right Awareness Initiative to use his authority and
remove any minister who is found to be operating below standard in their official capacity.
The group promised to monitor government employees closely and to be swift to point out poor performance and suggest firing non-performers.
At a news conference in Abuja, Amb. Lary Onah, the group’s executive director, announced that the organization would carry out
impartial evaluations of government appointments in order to guarantee openness, keep an eye on projects and finances, and protect good governance for the good of the people.
She added that Nigeria has never lacked solid policies and programs throughout its history, but there has been inadequate project and budget coordination and supervision.
He blamed a lack of assessment, monitoring, and reporting, corruption, and prioritizing personal interests over those of the people for the poor execution.
To encourage accountability and initiative among ministers, the group has started conducting monthly performance evaluations.
“This monthly initiative aims to assist citizens in assessing, tracking, monitoring, reporting, and providing input on the performances of ministers,” stated Onah.
The organization picked Dr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, as the top performing minister of the month,
citing his accomplishments in infrastructure, security, and human development, even though they acknowledged that many other ministers had performed admirably.
The group praised Wike’s efforts for making Abuja a secure haven by providing well-lit streets, finished road construction, and increased security.
The Group praised Tinubu for his continuous evaluation of ministers, stating that it would ensure that all appointments fulfill their responsibilities to the administration.
But they pleaded with the President to act decisively and remove any minister whose performance was judged deficient.
