Tinubu says Nigerians are not the only ones facing Poverty

According to President Bola Tinubu, poverty is not unique to Nigerians worldwide. Tinubu stated this problems must be solved while

acknowledging that there is poverty and misery in the country. He clarified that one strategy for combating them is to eradicate terrorism and banditry, allowing farmers to resume their farming.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, the

President made these remarks in Lagos on Monday when he hosted a team from the National Assembly to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, led the delegation together with Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, and Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.

He asserts that for Nigeria to advance, a shift in the country’s underlying values is essential.

“Indeed, poverty and suffering exist throughout the nation. While we are not the only ones dealing with these issues, we nevertheless need to address them”.

“To enable farmers to harvest food from the farmland, we need to figure out how to eradicate terrorism and banditry.

“You will pay the price if you do not have good roads to bring the food to the population, even if you grow the food and you are losing 60–70% due to damages,” the President said.

He challenged citizens to have a change of mindset about Nigeria if the nation is to overcome its current challenges.

“The need for some citizens to change the rent-seeking mindset and become more productive to the economy is a challenge. The need to stop smuggling and all economic sabotage”.

“We have to educate our people that the task at hand is for all of us to shift our perspective about our country.

In addition, the President expressed gratitude to the National Assembly’s leadership for their support of his government,

claiming that this support was responsible for some of the significant achievements his administration had made known.

“Having the greatest partners in the National Assembly fills me with immense pride. To please our people, we must go deep and wide in our search.

The President reassured the country of his steadfast resolve to turn things around, while acknowledging the difficulties and the task ahead.
