Program Highlights

Recipients of the CERC Migration Graduate Student Stipend will:

Funding Opportunities

• Master’s Students:
  • Stipend: Up to $10,000.
  • Eligibility: Available to full-time first- or second-year Master’s students at Toronto Metropolitan University.
• PhD Students:
  • Completion Stipend: Up to $25,000 for the final year of the PhD program.
  • Eligibility: Open to students completing their PhD dissertations, provided they graduate within the funded year.

Eligibility Criteria

• First-Year Master’s Students:
  • Must apply to a relevant Master’s program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
• Second-Year Master’s Students:
  • Must be enrolled in the second year of a Master’s program at the university.
• PhD Students:
  • Must be full-time students enrolled in a PhD program at Toronto Metropolitan University.

Application Process

First-Year Master’s Students:

1. Apply to a Master’s program at Toronto Metropolitan University.
2. Complete the online application form for the CERC Migration Graduate Student Stipend, including:
   • Toronto Metropolitan University ID Number.
   • CV and academic transcript.
   • Statement of interest from the Master’s application.
   • A motivation letter (max 2 pages) detailing your eligibility, research goals, and alignment with CERC Migration’s themes.

Second-Year Master’s Students:

• Submit the online application form with the following:
  • Toronto Metropolitan University ID Number.
  • CV and academic transcript.
  • A motivation letter outlining MRP plans and research relevance to CERC themes.
  • A writing sample (max 10 pages).

PhD Students:

• Apply through the online application form and include:
  • Toronto Metropolitan University ID Number and program details.
  • CV, academic transcript, and a dissertation overview (max 2 pages).
  • A motivation letter explaining research alignment with CERC Migration’s goals.
  • A reference letter from your supervisor confirming dissertation completion within the year.
  • A writing sample (max 10 pages).

Deadlines

• PhD Students: February 1, 2025.
