Wike reveals his reasoning for making permanent secretaries bow down to Tinubu.

Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), responded to recordings in which he was seen requesting that a few permanent secretaries kneel down to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Wike gave a speech on Thursday as part of the events commemorating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s one-year tenure, which included the launching of the seventh FCT project.

Taking advantage of the occasion, the minister refuted the rumor that he had forced permanent secretaries at the FCTA to bow before the president during a function.

“We tried to thank him for what he did in making sure those who had already lost hope in their career progression got to the peak of their career,” he stated when the President arrived two days ago.

“Until recently, FCTA lacked permanent secretaries. However, in keeping with Mr. President’s Renewed Hope approach, he stated that they needed to reach the pinnacle of their careers by, if at all possible,

rising to the rank of Head of the Civil Service and Permanent Secretary. After the President granted that request, I urged on the permanent secretaries who stand to gain from it to come forward, bow, and

express gratitude to the President.

Being asked to make a bow is an honor, yet some people are blind to good things. Rather, they are making fun of them and asking, “How will you call Permanent Secretaries and ask them to take a bow?”

The minister then urged the six chairmen of the local councils, whom he referred to as “change agents of Mr. President’s

Renewed Hope Agenda,” to bend before the president in an effort to emphasize his message.

“After Mr. President approved it, I called on the beneficiaries—the permanent secretaries—to emerge, bow, and express their gratitude to Mr. President.

Being asked to make a bow is an honor, yet some people are blind to good things. Rather, they are criticizing, asking how you plan to summon permanent secretaries and request that they kowtow.

“Look at him,” is what people say when they have nothing nice to say about you in my experience.

“Instead of you praising Mr. President for his achievements, let me thank him for giving hope to those who had none before.”
